About the Brand
BEÚ SPIRITS is an artisanal mezcal brand rooted in Oaxaca with headquarters in Zürich, Switzerland. The founder, Christian Massler, whose family has ties to Oaxaca, has long been inspired by the rich heritage, traditions, and craftsmanship behind this iconic spirit. The concept for BEÚ SPIRITS first sparked in 2012 during a memorable mezcal tasting at the family’s cherished producer, Dovgui, in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. It was there that Christian and his two close Mexican friends, fellow mezcal enthusiasts, first envisioned bringing the unique and authentic taste of mezcal to Europe. Years later, a reunion in Berlin fueled by shared nostalgia and a desire for better representation of mezcal in the European market reignited their vision. The brand name, “BEÚ,” which means “moon” in Zapotec, reflects the brand’s respect for the natural cycles that influence the craft of mezcal production.
