El Buho Especial Pulquero
El Buho Especial Pulquero is a Joven mezcal produced from Agave Atrovirens, often mislabeled as Americana on the bottle. This Oaxacan spirit offers a reserved nose with pleasant sweet chalk notes and flavors reminiscent of graham cracker honey. The palate features fruity soul, mango, toffee, and coconut, avoiding the green funk typical of Salmiana. Bottled at 48% ABV, it delivers very little heat and a lovely finish. This unique arroqueno style is difficult to find but remains a distinct choice for those seeking subtle, sweet complexity without aggressive spice.

Olfactory Phase
Aromatic profile with a combination of citrus, fruity, herbal and sweet notes. Aromas of pineapple, tangerine and grapefruit stand out, accompanied by apple yellow, mint and cinnamon, along with a sweet caramel note. The intensity aromatic is average, as is the alcoholic sensation.

Citrus and spicy taste profile, with defined flavors of mandarin, grapefruit and cinnamon, which provide a fresh and vibrant acidity. Sweet notes of pineapple are perceived and a sweetness reminiscent of caramel. Acidic flavors predominate, accompanied by a subtle sweetness. The alcoholic sensation is medium-low. The aftertaste shows an average persistence, dominated by citrus notes and fruity. Notes of pineapple, orange and lime are perceived. The alcoholic sensation and astringency is low, allowing the final notes to be expressed clearly and softness.

El Buho Mezcal was founded by Jose Isaac “Pepe” Jimenez Mendez, who comes from a long line of mezcal producers, and TJ Steele, a Brooklyn-based chef. TJ and Pepe launched their mezcal brand with a mission to deliver a high-quality mezcal at an affordable price in an iconic bottle. El Buho Mezcal is a small batch mezcal that is made in the heart of Oaxaca.
