The agave, an Americana variety aged eight to fifteen years, yields a 47% ABV spirit. Nose notes include roasted agave, citrus zest, and light ash with subtle lactic funk. Palate flavors feature syrupy richness, caramel, black pepper, and mineral tones alongside hints of blueberry. This label carries NOM-O171X certification for its adherence to traditional production methods.

Citrus and spicy taste profile, with defined flavors of mandarin, grapefruit and cinnamon, which provide a fresh and vibrant acidity. Sweet notes of pineapple are perceived and a sweetness reminiscent of caramel. Acidic flavors predominate, accompanied by a subtle sweetness. The alcoholic sensation is medium-low. The aftertaste shows an average persistence, dominated by citrus notes and fruity. Notes of pineapple, orange and lime are perceived. The alcoholic sensation and astringency is low, allowing the final notes to be expressed clearly and softness.

About the Brand

Carlos Moreno’s family has been linked to mezcal since the beginning of the 20th century. In 2009, Carlos resumed the family tradition and teamed up with 5th generation maestro mezcalero Pedro Hernandez to create Koch El Mezcal de Oaxaca, with the goal of preserving and promoting mezcal culture. After 10 years of business, they’ve now integrated more than 15 communities and 50 producing families into their collective. Each batch will vary, so check your bottle for details.
