Mezcalosfera Espadin Destilado con Tlaciahual – Margarito Cortés

Oaxaca

Mezcalosfera Espadin Destilado con Tlaciahual, Margarito Cortés is a joven agave spirit from Miahuatlán, Oaxaca. This Angustifolia expression by Margarito Cortés uses tahona milling and refrescador distillation. The profile features corn, fruit, and cornmeal notes with medium roast intensity. Burnt tortilla flavors emerge clearly on the palate. The spirit retains a direct character without added complexity beyond its core sensory elements. It showcases the distinct terroir of Oaxaca through precise production choices. The moderate roast level balances the bright fruit notes effectively. This approach highlights the natural qualities of the agave plant itself.

Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca

About the Brand

Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca is the exported bottling from Mezcaloteca, the famous bar in Oaxaca City that is renowned for their educational tastings. They source all of their agave spirits directly from producers in seldom-traveled parts of Oaxaca that are often hard to get to. They put an exceptional amount of information on their labels, and all of their releases are very small batches that exhibit the most unique characteristics of mezcal. Though only a few batches have been brought into the US, there are dozens upon dozens of different varieties available for sale at their tasting room in Oaxaca City.
