Bozal Barril

Oaxaca

Bozal Barril is a Joven Mezcal from Oaxaca. Producer Francisco Mendoza uses Karwinskii agave for this expression. The spirit carries NOM-O472X on its label. Milling occurs in a tahona stone before distillation. Clay pots complete the production process here. Santa Catarina Minas serves as the home for this brand. The unaged nature defines its character clearly today. No wood contact alters the final profile of this spirit. Francisco Mendoza ensures quality through traditional methods in Oaxaca. This label represents the heritage of Mexican agave spirits. The 47 percent alcohol content balances strength and flavor.

Bozal Mezcal

About the Brand

Mezcal Bozal is a craft, artisan, handmade Mezcal. They celebrate the wild side of the Mezcal world and the wild agave used to produce such rich spirits. They use agave from the steep precarious hillsides of Oaxaca and Guerrero that are indigenous to the region. These varietals produce flavors that are exotically intense, with rich earth tones and savory smokiness. From the heart of the maguey these flavors are traditionally extracted to produce mezcal that is wildly refined. In November 2024, Bozal was acquired and brought under Mexican ownership by Maguey Spirits.
