El Silencio Joven (Ensamble)

Oaxaca

El Silencio Joven Ensamble is a mezcal bottled at forty percent alcohol by volume. The aroma presents strong smoke and spice with notes of dried apricot, moss, lavender, and berries. The palate offers sweet cream, red bell pepper, sugar agave, and a hint of white pepper. Texture is smooth yet light, with a finish that includes bitterness, astringency, and sweet cornbread. This expression is engineered for cocktails, providing sweetness and smoke to traditional mixes rather than standing alone as a neat sipper.

El Silencio Mezcal

About the Brand

El Silencio is a Los Angeles-based craft mezcal label whose product is produced in San Baltazar Guelavila, Oaxaca by Pedro Hernández, a ninth-generation Maestro Mezcalero. As an organic Mezcal, they use only the finest and carefully selected 10-12 year old Espadin agaves. Their products are handmade in small batches. Like other artisanal Mezcals, El Silencio’s production does not involve any additives or industrial processes. In April 2019, Constellation Brands took a minority stake in El Silencio. In 2025, IJW Whiskey acquired the brand for an undisclosed sum. IJW Whiskey wholly owns Mezcal El Silencio, with neither its co-founders nor Constellation Brands holding stakes in the company.
