El Silencio Rare

Oaxaca

El Silencio Rare is a mezcal ensamble from Oaxaca. This blend combines Angustifolia and Karwinskii agave hearts. The distiller uses copper stills to process the mature piñas. Each plant spends ten to fifteen years growing before harvest. The final spirit reaches forty percent alcohol by volume. This multi-species approach defines its unique structural profile and depth. The production remains strictly within the designated appellation zones for quality control. El Silencio Mezcal maintains high standards through careful selection of raw materials and precise distillation techniques that honor traditional methods while ensuring consistency in every bottle.

El Silencio Mezcal

About the Brand

El Silencio is a Los Angeles-based craft mezcal label whose product is produced in San Baltazar Guelavila, Oaxaca by Pedro Hernández, a ninth-generation Maestro Mezcalero. As an organic Mezcal, they use only the finest and carefully selected 10-12 year old Espadin agaves. Their products are handmade in small batches. Like other artisanal Mezcals, El Silencio’s production does not involve any additives or industrial processes. In April 2019, Constellation Brands took a minority stake in El Silencio. In 2025, IJW Whiskey acquired the brand for an undisclosed sum. IJW Whiskey wholly owns Mezcal El Silencio, with neither its co-founders nor Constellation Brands holding stakes in the company.
