Polanco Añejo Tequila belongs to the protected category of tequila, defined by Mexican denomination of origin laws since 1974. This spirit derives exclusively from Agave tequilana Weber variedad azul, commonly known as blue agave. Production is restricted to Jalisco and specific municipalities in Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas. The añejo designation indicates the spirit ages for at least one year in oak barrels capped at 600 liters. This extended contact with wood yields a deeper color and more pronounced barrel character compared to younger expressions, placing Polanco within this aged classification.
