Ultramundo Lamparillo – Benjamín Ávila

Durango

Ultramundo Lamparillo, Benjamín Ávila is a Joven mezcal from Durango. This Asperrima spirit comes from Nombre de Dios and is made by Benjamín Ávila. Hand-milled agave undergoes Duranguense distillation at 48-52% ABV. Aromas of spicy mayonnaise, nail polish remover, and wood lead to black pepper, menthol, and grapefruit. The palate offers spicy jalapeno slices, sweet agave, and citrusy fruits that evolve into chili-mango and spearmint. This rich expression remains crisp and clean, avoiding the typical lactic profiles found in other Durango mezcals.

Ultramundo Mezcal

About the Brand

Ultramundo Mezcal is an agroforestry project. They’re attempting to foster a balanced relationship with nature through craft spirits, specifically artisanal mezcal, using the agaves from their 24,000-acre ranch in Mapimí, Durango. They leave at least 20% of the agaves that reach maturity to do what they do naturally: go to seed and regenerate their population.
