About the Brand
Mezcal Villasuso is a family-run mezcal brand based in Jaral de Berrio, Guanajuato, with roots dating back to the early 20th century. Founded by Don Manuel Villasuso, a maestro mezcalero who began producing mezcal after the Mexican Revolution, the brand has been passed down through generations and is now led by his granddaughter’s husband, Pedro Valdés. Pedro, his wife Malena Villasuso, and their family oversee all aspects of production, maintaining traditional methods such as steam cooking, stone milling, and copper distillation. Their work reflects a commitment to preserving both the heritage of mezcal production and the legacy of their family’s role in the development of agave spirits in central Mexico.
