Los Cantiles 1905 Bacanora Anejo

Sonora

Los Cantiles 1905 Bacanora Anejo is a Bacanora aged for at least one year in oak. This spirit originates from Sonora, where it holds protected designation of origin status since 2000. Producers must use Agave angustifolia Haw, also called yaquiana, within thirty-five specific municipalities. The category faced prohibition between 1915 and 1992, leading to clandestine production during those decades. The añejo classification indicates extended wood contact that yields deeper color and distinct barrel character compared to younger expressions. This label represents the historic Bacanora tradition.

About the Brand

The Portillo Family started producing Bacanoras, Lechuguillas and Palmillas back in 1905 when Don Refugio Portillo, Jose Luis Portillo’s great grandfather, founded “Rancho La Nopalera.” The project includes replanting agaves and promoting Opata Traditions, an ethnic group that is almost extinct. Their bottles are 100% recycled glass, made by hand by artisan workers, promoting economic grow in the region.
